| Accountant | In a communications agency, the Accountant is the professional responsible for the company's financial, accounting, and tax management. Unlike the "account department" figures (such as the Account Manager), who manage clients, the Accountant handles the "accounts" in the literal sense: balance sheets, invoicing, payments, and tax compliance. 2. What is it for / why is it important? This role is essential to the financial health of the agency. It ensures healthy cash flows, profitable projects, and compliance with tax regulations. Without accurate accounting management, even the most creative and successful agency risks financial collapse, unable to pay salaries, suppliers, and taxes. 3. When is it used / in what context is it useful? Its role is transversal and continuous, not tied to a single campaign. It intervenes in contexts such as:
 4. Practical exampleAt the end of a major advertising campaign, the Account Manager congratulates the client on the results. Meanwhile, the Accountant ensures that the client pays the invoice on time, that all external vendors are paid correctly, and that project costs are recorded to calculate the agency's true profitability. 5. Extra insightThe biggest source of confusion for those new to the world of agencies is the near-homonymy between Accountant and Account Manager . It's crucial to remember the distinction: the Accountant manages the agency's funds, the Account Manager manages the relationship with the client (the account). The former handles financial statements, the latter briefs. |
